Always wanted a .50, been buying ammo 1-2 times per year for a decade just waiting for the right time to buy the rifle. Honestly, the right time was probably 10 years ago with the prices of everything but I'm not going to be deterred. My local range is .50 friendly but only 300 yards. 1k is within reasonable driving distance. Would love to get a cadex or a AI to match my AIAT but just can't justify $10-15k. Strongly considering the Barrett M99 as a nice compromise of quality and price.Research shows 1-2 moa accuracy and I like the length versus the AR50. Leaning towards the 32" barrel. I've read all the stories of guys buying a .50 shooting it a half dozen times and never again before selling it. Still want one, have the money, reload other calibers and could do so for .50. convince me this is a huge waste of $4500+ or why the m99 isn't the rifle I should be looking at. Thanks |

I can't speak to the M99 specifically but I have a 107. It's a pain to move around. Can't shoot it at many places. Every time I take it out to shoot, I wish I had brought more ammo. It makes me giddy when I pull the trigger and look at the thumb sized holes in whatever I'm shooting. Just bought a 3/4" steel target that I'm excited to light up and plan to get some scrap steel to shoot some APIT rounds through once we get some rain. So my only feedback is DO IT |

I ordered it. Should arrive mid week. $4950 out the door with tax, shipping and transfer fee. Not too bad. Comes with pelican case and bipod. now to resist the urge to drop another $5k on glass. Hoping to find a lightly used NF or USO mil scope online from someone who shoots infrequently but like to have the latest and greatest. |

| I bought a bunch of Barrett .50 ammo forever ago. Mostly 660 grain ball for plinking (if you can call it that with a .50). It's decently accurate for screwing around. I have only shot mine out to ~400 yards, and used Hornady 750 grain AMAX with 1MOA success. |

M99's were so easy to assemble. Maybe 45 - 50 min each from pressing the barrel in to finishing it out and completing the paperwork and checks. I preferred the 29" Hunter model with the fluted barrel. Fairly light and really accurate. All the 99 barrels were a chem etch process with a diamond paste pressure lapping done by Fedderson in Loudon, Tn. |
I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me and say "You're next". They stopped that when I started doing it to them at funerals.

| I think the 99 is one of the best do it all 50's and have recommended it to several people. I like mine and have never had an issue with it including when I fed it dogshit Talon. Less OAL with the bullpup. I actually looked for one of those fluted hunters for a while but they always brought a premium. |
