Looks like I will be getting another YHM can later this year...

9mm can that is short, 10z...works with 17hmr up to .308...yup...all with MSRP of $450...so street is probably $299-329..

YHM has been absolutely killing it.

I've been considering a Wolfman or 36m for my next can, I'm getting this instead.

That does look appealing for my semi MP5K clone. Short and fat but still decent db numbers.

For that purpose, is the lack of ability to disassemble for cleaning a down side?

I'm currently using a Tirant 45, but well
1/17/2020 11:56:01 AM EDT
[#3]
That would be sweet on my M11/9.   I may just have to snag one.

Hopefully a 9mm version of their QD flash hider is coming to allow you to swap the can between 9mm carbines and 5.56/7.62 rifles without swapping out any mounts.

Looks pretty comparable to the wolfman in short config even if they claim better numbers.

This, plus being half the price and compatible with the sico/rugged mounts I already have is what is very attractive to me.

Think I had a thread on this about 2-6 months ago asking YHM to make what is essentially a cost effective Omega 9K. It appears they have achieved it and one upped my request.

Its amazing YHM is on fire as of late while other MFG are fading into oblivion and others are starting there slow demise.

This is also Big from YHM.

For all of us that bought Rex MG cans.

1 3/8-24 booster

1 3/8- 3lug

A friend was just asking about a suppressor he could run on his 9mm subgun and still handle a .308.

Competition. Gotta love it.
1/17/2020 1:22:20 PM EDT
[#14]
Might need to get a few of those
1/17/2020 1:31:02 PM EDT
[#15]
Yes that 3 lug for the MG7 and SiCo 36M etc etc. That's the money maker. The N2O can they announced is crazy too. Titanium wolfman competitor but with 308 capability. YHM is killing it.

They sure are.

Well done YHM.

[#17]
Will it work on a 16” 308 bolt gun?

Also what about something like a 270 Winchester or something like that new Sig Furry 277 (might need to step up to the resonator K or EA Vox).
1/17/2020 1:44:32 PM EDT
[#18]
This is fantastic and concur YHM is on fire the past 18  months!  Hoping the YHM folks will update the listing with barrel length minimums for each caliber.  Given the weight I’d assume the same as the Turbo K and Resonator K but you never know.
1/17/2020 1:58:49 PM EDT
[#19]
looks a bit quieter on a 20" 308 than the Resonator K. (142db vs 144, assuming they are both at the muzzle). There definitely look to be more baffles. I suspect this would sound better on a 300blk than the Resonator K, as well. Their measurements aren't apples to apples between the two on their site, but it seems like the R9 might be a little longer and heavier if measured without any mount or about the same length and lighter if it turns out it's measured with the DT the mount.

Interesting....

Looking at the specs it appears to not have the Inconel blast baffle that the Turbo and Resonator have. Not sure if that will affect the barrel minimums or not but it's worth mentioning if that's a concern.
1/17/2020 2:32:08 PM EDT
[#21]
The Nomad 30, Griffin Explorr, and Rex MG series don’t have inconel blast baffles either.  So for short barrels or full auto a muzzle brake mount would be beneficial.

The new Nitro N2O is quite a bit pricier, but the weights are awesome:

https://yhm.net/nitror-n20.html

Also I like that they are bringing 1.375x24 DT adapters with 3/4" hex  features, far preferable to spanner slots. Uncanny.... It's almost like they're listening to their customers or something.

Looks like a direct competitor to the Omega9K?

The Omega is shorter, skinnier and lighter but the R9 is cheaper and probably quieter (based on the larger size and the numbers YHM is providing). Numbers aren't everything and we know the Omega has a nice low tone so I would really like to hear them side by side.

YHM has a presence here and will ask what we want.
Some of these new things are exactly what was asked for, including the new short QD mounts.

I do wonder if the R9 and NO2 are rated for just .308, or for all similarly sized short action cartridges. I ditched all my .308s a while ago, and would want to be able to run these cans on my 6.5 CreedBros.

Shooting .38SPL out of a lever gun is probably the next quietest thing to .22lr.  I love my Marlin 1894CST so much I may buy the new Black one in .357/.38 when it comes out.  No meter, but .357 through my Mystic X or Ghost-M is hearing safe.

If their metering numbers are accurate and the street price is $400 or less, then I'll be in for 2 of them

Ugh...now I am absoloutely frozen with my next purchase with all the new cans that are coming out.

The db numbers on this can are awesome for its size.

Analysis paralysis has set in.

Aside from subsonic loads in some smaller bore stuff like .25-20, .32-20, .32 long, etc, this is true.  My 1894 .357 is one of my absolute favorite hosts.

I like YHM, but those figures are extremely optimistic for a 5.2" can, even with the larger diameter.  Like 8-10 dB below reality.  Guess we'll have to wait and see what it really puts down if HB decides to test it on their Pulse.

They probably measured that with something like freedom munitions hush or 158gr Fiocchi
I can see those results considering the wolfman in short is around the same volume and meters 6-8 db higher with standard 147gr

If the number they posted hold true for the short config... 5.4”, 6.5 oz and 127 dB in 9mm, that might be my next can? Its fat at 1.562” dia but I'll make that work.

The numbers struck me as about 10DB optimistic also.

This is awesome! I’ve been toying with the idea of a 9K but I struggle with the $650-700 price tag. This is 3.5oz heavier and 1/2” longer but has a universal threaded base and is $300 cheaper!

I fully plan on buying the Turbo K2, Res K, and R9 this year.

When will this be hitting dealers?  I got Foreigner stuck in my head “I’ve been waiting for a can like you”, lol.

Also, what’s up with the decibels listed, showing quieter on a 4.25” 9mm than a 10”?  Perhaps comparing sound from a Glock 19 vs AR9, but why not list that info as well?
