Unless I missed it, I don't think this has been posted by itself, and IMHO it is worthy of a topic of its own.

At the recent FCSA Raton Match Lee Rasmussen shot a sub 0.2 MOA 5 shot group in Heavy Class that was also a 50-5X!

I have not seen the "official results" of the match yet, so I am not sure what the exact size of the group will be, but needless to say it is freaking amazing, hats off to Lee!

My personal best for 5 shots at 1,000 yards is 8.8", I seriously doubt that I will be shaving 6" off anytime soon!

David, sounds like you guys had one hell of a weekend! Great news with the new record, sad day with the injury to the ALS shooter.

Best of Luck,
Capt Richardson

a sub 2 MOA 5 shot group

Did you forget the decimal point? .2 MOA looks more like it. Amazing shooting!

Yep, 0.2 MOA.  Somewhere around 1.94" to 1.95".  I was there.  I just didn't write it down.

That's incredible!  That would have been amazing to witness in person.  Your group is pretty amazing too––8.8" is nothing to scoff at Captain!

Dave, sorry to hear that you had a rough time not being able to compete with your own rifle.  Good for you for having a good attitude about it, despite the setbacks.

Thanks for the photo credit, Capt R!  The lighting was pretty lousy, but this was the best one of the five or so that I took.

My best group at the match was 8 5/8".  Like you, I don't think I'll be a threat to Lee's record any time soon!

Lee was way the heck on the other side of the firing line from me, so I didn't get a pic of the gun.  Anyone else?

If anything could bring Skip back from the dead, this would be it.  I'm sure he is as happy for this guy's accomplishments as we are.

How times have changed:

The
Windrunner is a lightweight tactical takedown .50 Cal. BMG bolt-action
repeating rifle. I

In
July 2002, it set a world record 8 3/4"  5-shot group at the FCSA
competition
. EDM Arms guarantees 1 M.O.A. at 1000 yards with match
grade or RAUFOSS ammunition.

Both are immaterial.  It's the shooter, not the gun.

Gun was custom on a shellholder BAT action.

Scope was either a Mark 4 or a NXS...I've mostly seen Lee use Mark 4s.

I understand.  I wasn't even implying that...  and you know what they say about assumptions...

I didn't say you implied anything and I didn't make any assumptions.  But the reason Lee shoots so good is that the guy can dope wind like nobody's business.  Sure, he shoots a good gun, with good ammo made from heavy solids & VV20N29 heated in a thermoelectric box but so do lots of other folks and they don't shoot that good.

Learn to dope conditions, and you've got this long range thing whipped.  One thing to remember, Lee spends more time looking through his monster spotting scope than he does through his RIFLESCOPE.

Agreed, David.  I'm sure Lee could get my Windrunner to shoot screamers all day long.  And I'm sure I couldn't using his gun.  Lee probably puts more rounds downrange practicing in a year than I will in a lifetime.  His incredible accomplishment was more a result of $$$ on practice than $$$ on gun.

I was at the FCSA Quantico match this past April, and someone with a Windrunner shot a sub 6" group.
