Hey everyone, nice to be here.
I'm 19 and just purchased my first firearm.  I work at a pawnshop and one day a Bushmaster "Shorty" came through.  So I decided to purchase it.  I took it out shooting, and the spring in the buttstock rattles realll bad.  I just was wondering if that was how all Bushmasters shot, or if there is something wrong with mine?  Thanks everyone.

Can't say whether your shoots as well as mine, you forgot to say how it shot, however sprroonnngggg noise is normal.

Mike

PS: mine shoots inside 2" at 100 yards w/ surplus ammo.

Yup.
You will get use to it.
It can get even more irritating when shooting a collapsable stock.
Don't sweat it and don't sell it!
 Enjoy and have fun.
 Welcome aboard!

Spring noise is normal. Try using it to your advantage, notice the lenght of the spring noise and how long it takes, if it sounds too short you have a malfunction.
BALOO.

As the others have said the noise is normal for the ar. If it really bothers you put some heavy grease on the spring, this will quiet it down.

Spring is normal. I agree with paterpk. I packed it with heavy bearing grease and it really quieted it down.

It's Slinky, it's slinky, for fun it's a wonderful toy! All AR's sound like that except for AR-pistols and side folders which use differnt spring configurations.

No you have chrome lined barrels, chromemoly barrels, 5.56 barrels, .223 barrels, stamped recievers, forged recievers ext.  Basically (except with a colt) you get what you pay for.
