First off, I have read the stickies, FAQ's etc. I just want to be absolutely sure about the process. 1. Do you have to purchase/pay for the Class III item before you send in the Form 4, or does the seller simply "hold" the item until the F4 clears? 2. Can you get a form 4 approved before you actually find a Class III item you wish to purchase (to save time)? Or do you have to include the product info with the form 4 upon initial application? I think I already know the answer to this... I realize these questions are probably really, really dumb, but I want to make sure that I understand the legal jargon and wording of the info properly. thanks, Scott |
You have to buy it beforehand; whether you pay part or all of the price up-front depends on whatever deal you and the seller work out.
BATF will not process a Form 4 without the serial number of the specific item you are transferring. So no, you can't.
No problem. Asking questions is how we all learned about NFA.
