Has anyone used this product in the belt version(non molly) and how well does it work. Should I go with a kydex pouch for just mounting to a belt or is this the way to go.

Fastmags are awesome. They do have their downsides though. I wore out the rubber band on mine from rifle rub. Still holds the mag in with no problem though. Also they make noise when you hit your weapon against it. Might not be such an issue on a belt as opposed to my PC. Unfortunately I have no experience with the Belt version. I'll contact our warehouse and see what size belt it can accommodate and such.

My experience is as a hobbiest, not a soldier. I have run Fast Mags on my chest rig, MOLLE belt and sub-load just to try it out. Here's what I found.
Retention is perhaps the best of all open-top pouches I've tried. The mags just don't come out on their own very easily.. It takes only a simple twist and the mag pops right out, so speed is very fast. On a chest rig: There is no peer, especially when they're run upside down. Yank and load in one motion. Very smooth. This is the great value of the fast mag in my opnion. On the war belt: You have to release just right or you'll be tugging your belt upwards rather than releasing the mag. Very fast still, but takes some practice. I think the ESSTAC/KIWI is better for the belt, as may be the HSGI Taco, because of their straight draw without a "twist". Sub-load: It'll be like having another kydex holster on the thigh, but the hand position for a fast draw is more natural for the "twist", so it works great on the thigh. It'll be the noisiest on the thigh. The real issue is that the magazine can be top-heavy in the Fastmag, causing it to cant outward slightly compared to pouches with the longer MALICE clips. My conclusion is that the Fastmags are perfect for a plate carrier with the added support of the plate, and chest rig, and good for every place else. The best all around PMAG pouch is the ESSTAC with KIWI insert. I also like the toaster, but I'm a geek. The most versatile pouch is the Taco. The Eagle FB and US Grunt Gear pouches are lined with Kydex or PVC as well, and are among the best pouches available. |

I kinda like the "taco" pouch and I just want to clarify that I can use it on a regular 2" belt with no "molle" attachments right? |
