I know esentially nothing about the FAL. I am interested in a .308 carbine, but I am not sure what to expect to spend and where to get it. While the US adopted the M14 I feel the FAL is a better choice. There are alot more FAL rifles in use worldwide than the M14. Even more confusing to me is the Cetme. I am puzzled about this inexpensive rifle often being sold right beside FAL's. The two look so similar. My head hurts.

There are lots of guys in VA that can help you build a decent FAL at a real good price. post in the VA hometown section and someone will chime in for sure. (I know of at least one that is always willing to help but I dont want to "volunteer" him w/o him knowing about it |

I discovered the CETME while shopping for an FAL. I bought the CETME at half the price of an FAL, about $300, and man have I been pleased. VERY fun rifle to shoot and I don't know that there is a better webite for a SPECIFIC type of rifle than www.cetmerifles.com. Great guys and all the help in the world. Never will you see a thread with an issue just sit there unanswered...much like this site. Between Ar15.com and cetmerifles.com, I don't need to look to many other places on-line for forum help and discussion. As with FALs from Century, CETMEs from Century can have problems and you have to be responsible as a buyer and know what to look for....but its really easy. I ended up with a sweet gun and didn't even know CETME's existed three weeks before I bought one. They have a tutorial on that site that will teach you how to shop for one, plus, any questions are answered fast. Now, I still am shopping for an FAL, but the CETME is a nice rifle to have in the collection for sure. Viva El Choppo!! |
