Can you use a .223 can on a .22lr with no problems? I would like to swap between my AR and 10/22.

I already know about lead buildup and cleaning, any other issues?

People do it, it's just a lot of crap to crud up a .223 can.  If you're lucky enough to have a solid stainless (no aluminum) can you could technically do it with the new home cleaning recipe floating around.

Other than a muzzle heavy 10/22, no.

Some folks think it isn;t a problem.  Others think you are asking for trouble is some lead gets in the bullet path.

I've done it.  I know several others who have done it.  We've had no problems.  I run .223/5.56 ammo through the gun/can after shooting a bunch of .22lr and it appears to melt the lead and vaporize it out of the can.  I try to stick with plated .22 ammo for the least amount of leading.
