What would you guys do?

I have looked at the MK390 Paladin that is gen 1 plus. Is this worth the money. I hunt coyotes and nothing more really. What if I had 1400.00 budget? What would you recommend then?

for 1400 I would be looking for gen 2 stuff

look in the ee, sometimes you find screaming deals on used nv stuff

$1,400.00 budget? I'd either save for a MUM, or PVS-14 from Victor at TNVC, or go with a D-300 Gen 2 through him.

You can get some nice gen2 at 1400. Shop around.

for an extra $400 you can get the GT14 w/ a DEP tube.

From the pictures it looks like up to 200 its right there with the Gen 3 stuff (minus some clarity).

Take the groups advice and save up.

I recently bought a D740 MS 2 gen+ ($2000) from Vic, and am very happy, other than the preesure eye piece.

Max 200 yds on a coyote from a solid shooting position.

D740 MS 2 gen+ here I come. This will be the one for me. I don't want to have to buy another. I almost bought an ATN when I did not know much about this stuff. Are the Palidin's really that bad?

my palidin atn 390 works just fine.bougth it here on the used optic board for $300.i would guess that over 95% of nv sits in the closet and if ever rarely used.the guy i got mine from used it once.i sighted it in and it has been in the case ever since.i think of it as a energency tool in case of CW2 or katrina situation.if i had alot of money i would get gen 2,but for what i paid it does the job just fine for what i would need it for.the dvd that comes with it states that you should not be shooting a long way in the dark, but being able to see your target in the dark.
