Can you take night vision out of the country with you if you were going on, say, an african safari to view wildlife?

Well, it depends on what generation it is, and what country your taking it from and to.

If it's first generation equipment then most likely you could take it around with no problems.  2nd generation equipment has some restrictions depending on the country and the equipment.  3rd gen really can't be taken out of country without the paper work all being in order :)  Some of the other guys here probably have more experience then me on this and could fill you in on the details.

What type of unit are you planning to take with you CRC?

I don't have a unit yet

But one of these days I'd like to go to Africa and go on safari and see lions and things

I have the same question (I posted a sperate thread until I saw this one).

I'm thinking of taking a PVS-14 (Pinnacle) + Da Torche to Australia.  Since Oz is one of our longtime allies, and member of the "coalition of the willing", I can't imagine there being any concern about the US losing technology (heck I think we sell them to the Aussies).  But I'm not sure what paperwork I would need, and if they would let me in the country with it (their customs & immigration is very wacky strict down under).

I appreciate any thoughts u guys ave.

Cheers,
Rob.
