We all love the AR15 and its variants or else we wouldn't be here. But, some of us also have other firearm loves. I suggest a tacked picture thread for non-AR SBRs so one doesn't need to wade through 50+ pages of countless AR15s just to hopefully find that one picture of a gun that might resemble the project they want to undertake. You know, guns such as Krinks, Sterlings, HKs, Tommy Guns, etc.

As soon as my krink gets back from the builder, I'll post a pic of it. Once I get off my butt and get the paperwork in the mail, I'll also get going on a pic of my HK clone.

This is a product improved version of the B&T rail, in that it is cut from a solid piece of billet aluminum. Larry told me that the B&T rails start life as castings. Not that it really matters structurally, but it is a nice addition. The buttstock is the Swiss-made 553 type folding and collapsing stock. This came on one of the early produced 556 Classic rifles. http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/5183/dsc03235.jpg http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/4732/dsc03234.jpg Some pics of the receiver mods: http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/5664/jsrcvrrailrr.jpg http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/9245/jsrcvrraillf.jpg http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/567/js552toprail.jpg http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/3416/jsrcvrrailtop.jpg Very Nice. |

Its a little more tricky than an AR but is very possible at home. There are 2 ways to get the barrel:
1) Get the standard (10.3") barrel from CMMG here 2) Send your barrel to be cut and threaded. I used Hi Desert Dog in AZ. They did an awesome job and are great guys. Instructions for removal of your barrel are here (w/pics) I actually cut the barrel off about halfway down the exposed part with a diamond saw instead of drilling. Either one works just fine |

I also had Rifle Dynamics refinish the entire rifle with Norrell's Moly Resin over Parkerization at the same time that they cut the barrel down, since the factory Arsenal finish is supposed to be so bad. Regarding the custom Ultimak rail, it should be noted that Ultimak now offers a production version of the gas tube rail for the Bulgarian Krinkov. When I sent my gun off to be worked on however, they did not. Regardless, mine is rock solid and I couldn't be happier. Turns out I didn't need the Stormwerkz rail after all. http://www.phildorsett.com/images/arsenalkrink1.jpg http://www.phildorsett.com/images/arsenalkrink2.jpg http://www.phildorsett.com/images/arsenalkrink3.jpg http://www.phildorsett.com/images/arsenalkrink4.jpg http://www.phildorsett.com/images/arsenalkrink5.jpg http://www.phildorsett.com/images/arsenalkrink6.jpg Wow that looks great!
