Looking for load data for 165 gr nosler ballistic with varget. Having a hard time time finding this info. Thanks Cartridge? Finding an exact match (recipe) is virtually impossible. Whatever cartridge you are loading for, find load data of same weight bullet with similar design and construction. Then start low and work up. |

Quoted: Sorry, 308 I found some info from another board that ranged from 42 to 46 gr. I think im going to start at 42 Be sure to verify any load data from the internet with published data if you value your eyes and fingers. This goes for any load I may list also. Be safe.

| I would say if you don't have a Nosler manual to find a similar weight bullet and go with that as suggested, here is a good example I had a SAI 22" M1A converted to a 18" Scout and thought I could kind of use the same load of 40.5g of IMR 4895 but after running them over a chronograph the velocity dropped a lot with the shorter barrel so I had to bump the charge by 1.5g to get the same velocity, I really never thought a chronograph was needed but I am finding out that its a valuable tool to have. |

I guess I need to get a nosler manuel. I have different manuels. What I fail to understand is why two similar bullets with the same weight can have such different load data. Thanks for all the help Different lot numbers, different testing equipment, different test barrel or firearm, different results. That is why load data is NOT a recipe, only a guideline. It is also the number one reason to "Start Low and Work Up". |
