Ok don't beat me up but I am waiting on my upper to be shipped should be here by middle of august. I have bought the Lee reloading press and dies and a resizing die, brass, primmers, WC860 surplus powder, digital powder scale. Can we load the brass with 50 cal sabbots and 30 cal bullets or some other bullet? If so what bullet weight should I use and what powder charge? Also if this is fine then where do I get the sabbots? I know someone will ask why do you want to shoot a 30 cal bullet if you have a BMG, why not, it gives me a serious hunting cartrage. I still plan on shooting the regular stuff too. I have some surplus API pulled bullets but after I ordered them everyone said I probably can't shot them anywhere so I will just load up some and put them away. I also posted this question on another board, same user name. Edit: A couple people on the other board said I couldn't shoot sabbots with a break so I will not be trying them I don't want to remove my break. |
| Your edit is a good decision. It's not that you couldn't do it, you might get away with it but the risk far out weighs the advantage of doing it. I've seen some nasty shrapnel cuts and abrasions on someone standing behind a person who tried doing this through an Armalite with the brake still on. |
| Well, what about SLAP rounds? Those are used in the M107, and it doesn't look like they have any negative effects. I think I read somewhere that they are a .30 cal projectile, and I know they use a hard plastic sabot. Someone else on this board said that the tiny cuts in the sabot would cause the hot gas to gouge the barrel, but I'm not so sure. I can't imagine the military would use a round that destroys the gun barrel that quickly. The only disadvantage is that these rounds are extremely expensive. |
