My neighbor has a 500 yard road that dead ends into the national forest that he lets me shoot on when I want. Yesterday I was finding my new zero's with my new suppessor and he asked if I had my 50 still. Well duh, that bitch is gona be buried we me. Anyway he ask if he could shoot it. So I just got back from down there and he had an old transformer on a pole (dewired) he wanted to shoot at. Being an electrician i told him them things have oil in them and it's toxic. He asurred me they have shot at it many times and it's well ventilated. I take the first shot and bammm. the fuckin top blows off and this thing, and it's pissing oil. He shoots it and another piss hole. I wish I had a camera cause this damn this was tore up. I was shooting pmc 660 fmj ammo at 200 yards and glad I didn't bring a API round cause it would have probley caught on fire. Anyway thats the first non target thing I have shot with "Big Baby" and it was a OMG moment. |

VERY toxic, and don't let anyone tell you differently. My sister had a power pole transformer blow up on her property, spilling its contents on the grass below. Soon after she caught a pregnant mare grazing under the power pole. The foal was stillborn, and EXTREMELY deformed. Like, a head with no room for a brain, and an extra joint on each leg. This mare produced healthy foals before and after the deformed one. |

I had a sheriff tell me that he busted some stealing old transforms and it turned out they sell the copper inside and cook the oil somehow. |

We had one blow and leak oil all around the pole the power company came out and dug down like 4ft and out aobut 6 to remove the soil then replaced it so there was no risk of anyone getting sick. |

"and we wonder why shooter's rights are being questioned. Nice way to pollute the Nat'l forest."
Irrespective of the specific location vis a vis the National Forest, I agree with the above. Plays nicely into the impression of antis and many in the public who think that shooters / hunters care little about the environment. |
