Was talking to a friend the other day who is retired LE and hardcore reloader and his comment was that in 35 years of busting bad guys in SO-CAL he had never seen any reloading equipment or supplies in any suspects house during a warrant search. I think most criminal types haven't the patience to reload anything.

If I had a meth lab, I couldn't put my reloading presses on the bench.

I honestly think that most criminals think of a gun as tool much like a crow bar and has no clue you can load your own. If they do they could care less about doing it....Cuts down on valuable crime time.

Yeah, large investment that might take years to pay for itself, quiet concentration, precision, delayed gratification.........Why aren't more criminals into this??

Had a...urban youth coworker for a little while. When he heard me talking about reloading, he wondered how i would survive in a gunfight if i had to measure powder and ram the "little stick" down the barrel each shot.

He didn't last long.

Criminals really don't shoot that much.  Can't tell you how many guns I've recovered with three different types of ammo in them.  Or revolvers with empty cases in some cylinders.  Or 12 rounds in a 17 round magazine.

This.  Most criminals aren't supposed to have guns at all, so they are not going to be advertising the fact that they do to other more law abiding folks - like those you'd find at a shooting range.  I can't see them practicing so much that one would say "You know, this is getting really expensive" or "I'm not getting the accuracy I need."

Reloading would require the bad guys to think.

Maybe one day, but not now.

I would say the consenus is that generally speaking Reloaders  are "Good Guys"

I hate to rain on this parade, but I know of one who's in the slammer right now.  White collar criminal.  But you are right about the guys you don't want to meet in a dark alley, or who rob convenience stores.

Chances are good that they would cut corners and probably blow themselves up...maybe we should encourage the gangbangers to try their hand at reloading.  Let survival of the fittest run its course.

Are most of the guns you find junk?  Or do they buy nice guns?  Or do they just have decent guns that are stolen?  Or all of the above?

I wonder how many big, tough, pistol packin' gangstas could field strip and clean their pistol?  50%?  20%  Less?  I think it would be interesting to round a bunch of gangsters, take them to a range and see them shoot.  Then see if they could strip and clean their gun.  Then use them as targets, errr, I mean, take them home.

Mostly they're just too damned stupid and undisciplined..........Most are so fogged they barely function anyway.   One real good thing about it  tho is that generally their reproduction level is quite low, too  childhood mortality is a very real issue with that level of dirtbag...................OTH, maybe it'd be a good idea to pass on some choice handload recipes..........say 40 grains of BE in that AK for a real get the job done load!

Yeah I'm sure 90% of these guys don't know crap about guns.

Probably go to wally world to buy "bullets"

Are you saying they don't have long-winded animated discussions over Titegroup vs. Bullseye, "Do these primers look cratered", and which 1911 is best for a 2" group at 25 yards?

Criminals are like hunters. When they shoot, it is not at paper.

Circa ’70, one of the gun writers said he set out to do an article on the holsters that criminals use…

Said he couldn’t find a single holster at any police station. Seemed that crooks don’t keep incriminating evidence around…

Wonder if that holds true today?
