I was poking around the interwebz looking for F2000 pics in theater. I came across this pic. I'm trying to work up the balls to paint the one I just got but I can't make up my mind. It looks great, though.
Note: Not my pic. I will remove it if it violates any COC or intellectual property. My understanding is that it's a Belgian soldier in AFG.

I decided to take advantage of the military overrun FS2000s. I sold one of my spare AR lowers and a duplicate M4A1 Block II upper I had to fund this; I think I made out well. I really wanted a SCAR but funds were a little tight. I see this as being an excellent CQB weapon for HD because of its bullpup design.
Specs: FN FS2000 Tactical FNH Tri Rail Aimpoint T-1 Micro (4MOA) in LaRue LT661 "low" mount SureFire M300A in a LaRue LT172 mount with SureFire SR07 switch KAC handstop and rail covers URBAN E.R.T. Sentry sling with FS2000 strap I have the KAC T-1 battery cap to add, but I need to pick up some spare batteries before I can mount it (having only one battery was causing the T-1 to flicker a bit). The Judochop charging handles aren't available anymore so I won't be able to go that route. I don't plan on messing with the trigger either. |

I had an RMR on there for a bit but it didn't have the vertical FOV that the T-1 does to be effective (for me anyway). I find the T-1 to be about perfect. I'm sure you could use a 30mm Aimpoint and move a little above absolute cowitness. |

Looks like the position of your hand it an inch or so higher without the guard it comes with. Do you notice a difference? Absolutely no effort or modifications needed to put the tri rail on the FS2000. The one that has the top aluminum rail, and the plastic hand guard is the tactical. The model with the aluminum top pic rail and tri rail from the factory is called the CQB model. The one that has the plastic hood on top with the integrated sight is the standard model. Both the tactical and the CQB are the way to go because of the top aluminum pic rail for mounting any optic you like. The tri rail to buy separate is under $200, and put it on and off as you wish, it takes 4 seconds to change back and forth.  Really you cant go wrong with buying a FS2000! |

The majority of pictures I've looked at show the FS2000 steel mags. Haven't seen many that have Magpul or other plastic mags. Any reason for that?
Kind of ironic that so many out plastic mags in their metal guns and metal mags in their plastic guns. ;) I've recently developed a new interest in this system. I love the AR platform but a second look at this now is making me think I really need one. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

In the off chance one of these could be found at a gun show for a non-wallet raping price, would it be a simple cash-and-carry purchase since it dodges the assault rifle classification by the thumbhole stock? I live in NJ. Could I buy on of these at most any out-of-state gun show as long as I have the NJ purchasing ID card?

The sock FS2000 from FNH is legal for NY and NJ. The only thing that is not is the 30 round mag. If you buy one and bring it back sell or throw the 30 rounder in the trash. That is the only part that is not legal for you to own. |

Your best bet on finding one is on the FN forum, or gunbroker and having it shipped. I'm in Mass, and had no trouble getting one sent to my FFL. Just make sure you find a FFL first, these are not that common of a rifle so a FFL in MA, or NJ may not even know what it is. And a fair price is between $1500-$1800 for a used one, not $2500 at a gun show. Devil |

I'd definitely have to make sure whatever FFL I use to transfer knows the specs and legalities... but from what I've gotten the only thing that can't come in is the factory 30rnd mag. Everything else is kosher. |

Swivel doesn't bother me much - but what a great idea. I will definitely keep this in-mind. |
