| Sig announced that they will be releasing the MCX with the 300BLK barrel in 6.75" length. As stated from Silencerco, the Omega is rated and warranted down to 8" in 300BLK. If I ONLY shoot subsonic loads through the 6.75", do you think I would be OK? I'm thinking the 8" only rating takes into account supersonic 300BLK loads. |

300 Subs aren't very high pressure, but shooting long heavy bullets out of a short barrel is more of a worry as far as stability goes. I personally would be far more worried about a baffle strike than damaging the can from pressure. Good point. But Sig has some pretty kickass research and development folks and they have been suppressing the 6.75" 300BLK for awhile now and probably wouldn't release it if it had problems stabilizing. That's just my thought. |

Looking around the net a bit for more info on the Omega, I've heard it claimed that there is no barrel length minimum for 300blk when using subsonic rounds. Email Silencerco about it and see what they have to say... They've said multiple times the minimum barrel length for 300BLK is 8" on the Omega. They didn't specify subsonic or supersonic. |

"Not what silencerco is saying. Email from them the other day:
Thank you for contacting us. I have listed the minimum barrel lengths for the Omega below. 300blk supersonic 10" 300blk subsonic No minimum length 223/556 NATO 10" 308 16" Please feel free to contact us should you have any further questions. Since I can't post the link to it, PM me if you want it. I could be 100% wrong here, just passing it along... |

Nice! That's welcome news to me.

If the MCX data page is correct SIG is using 1/6" twist barrels in the 300BLK versions. |

I'm guessing a 1:6 twist rate (faster) would be better at stabilizing 300BLK out of an ultra short barrel?

They are moving it shorter; not longer. |

I'm guessing a 1:6 twist rate (faster) would be better at stabilizing 300BLK out of an ultra short barrel? Exactly. Joey, of Gemtech, says their minimum barrel length for the Quicksand and 300BLK was the twist rate plus a half inch. Assuming that holds true; a 6.75" barrel is good to go if it is a 1/6" twist. Archive link
Yes, you can run your Quicksand on a 300Blackout SBR, and it sounds pretty awesome. Our guideline for barrel minimum length, is caliber specific - not can specific; Minimum barrel length on 308 is 16", for 5.56 it's 10.3". For 300BLK SBR's minimum is 1/2" longer than your twist rate - 1in7 = 7.5" - 1in8 = 8.5" - 1in9 =9.5". Hope this helps? Joey |

This means the engineers @ Sig DO know what they're doing!

Ill believe its 8" for both super/sub on 300blk because the main rep on TOS for SiCo said 8" sub/super. |
