I've got a fairly large collection of "exotic" rifles, I'm very fond of those types of guns. AR-15s just don't do much for me..

Looking over my collection today, I'm thinking.. maybe it would be a better idea to just get rid of everything and buy an FN SCAR or M1A EBR.  I'm only 22, so I'd like to get something that would last me the rest of my life.

I've got
Colt R6600
MSAR STG-556
Arsenal 106FR
Ruger Mini-14 factory folder
PS90
Century Sterling
S&W M&P/VLTOR AR
RRA M4gery
870 riot gun
Auto-5 riot gun
Century AK underfolder
IMI Uzi B
H&K USP-9 w/ M2 light & supressor sights
Glock 34 w/ light
GSR w/ TLR-2
Glock 19
FEG highpower browning system
MK II slabside govt.
PPK/S
P38
Beretta 92 Inox
Ruger SR-9 w/ viridian laser

So what says the hive?

Move everything but
Arsenal AK
PS90
Uzi B
S&W AR
USP 9
G34
GSR

and get an FN SCAR, or M1A EBR..

or keep it all?

I see alot of wisdom in down grading to just a few pieces not for me but a lot of wisdom in the idea.

Spend the extra cash on ammo optics and classes.

If I had to down grade to one rifle- 18 in FAL or a 308 SCAR- the RFB would be heavily investigated before making the decision.

one pistol- walther p99 this would be harder but the p99 is the best all around handgun for me. I would really miss my 357 Magnums though

One shotty Mossberg 590.

Luckily I don't need to worry about doing so.

I also highly recommend you acquire a high quality 22lr pistol like a hammerilli, Walther PP sport, or walther pp in 22lr S&W 17, or Colt Ace. The S&W 17 would be my first choice here.

Seems like everyone wants to sell off their collections and buy a SCAR these days...

Yeah, that's the point.

I've got zero in the way of optics, the best optic I have is the factory optic sitting on my MSAR.

Already got a high quality .22 handgun, Ruger MKII Govt. pistol.

As far as why the SCAR? it's not an American made clone like the MSAR, and others in my collection. It's a true FN made weapon (yes American made, but still a factory rifle.) , and one of only a hand full of original factory made military style rifles we can own from another country without resorting to poorly made clones (MSAR, & Century).

I'm a little tired of sending supposedly "superior" American made clones back to the makers for fixes the real factory rifles would never need.

So that, is the whole appeal for me.

New factory rifle, with a nice optic. vs 24 junky clones that have to go back to the gunsmith every other month for fixes.

Save up and buy a SCAR or a quality M-14 (Smith Ent or LRB)...

I sold 3 handguns I absolutely hated because of hammer bite and the MSAR STG and tomorrow I'm cashing the check and buying either a SCAR, LWRC M4A3, or M1a loaded.

So I got out of it minus 3 handguns I couldn't bear to shoot for hammer bite, and one rifle that I didn't trust.

The USP brought me close to 1K alone.. and since I shoot better with the G34 I ended up parting with it.
the MKII govt. which was fun to shoot, but bit me on bolt return.
The FEG high-power, which also bit me, and wouldn't accept a lot of browning parts.

I've still got 99% of my EBRs left.

just wondering, but if i were un-trusting of the msar and wanted to sell it, your buying another gun that has yet to earn the trusted badge to if you went with a scar. Both are new platforms. Just kinda funny you see one in higher regard, with as many guns as you have i'd work on the ones you have, like ammo and maybe optics. IMO you have to many platforms that you haven't had enough practice with it seems adding another is sorta silly. But its your money, im sure you'll be happy for a few months:)

The only reason I trust the SCAR is because like I said.. it's a factory rifle from a company that's been around longer than I've been alive.

If we could still get factory new Polytech Legends in the US  I'd buy an underfolder or a Norinco double underfolder and be done with it, as AK platforms are what I've got the most experience with.

I've owned a lot of guns in the last 4 years, working in a gun store you tend to come into a lot of odd balls quickly.

Working the weapons under stress is no issue for me, I've got good muscle memory with all of the common "battle" rifles, and most SMGs/PCCs.

It's just come down to a point where I've decided that I want Quality vs. Quantity.

And while the FN SCAR is a new platform, it's still backed up by FNH.. which isn't going away..

Unlike MSAR, which could fold at any moment.

I did the same when I was younger........I had a very large collection........and sold it all...glad I did.  For me as I got older  there was no reason to own 20 different handguns, rifles, and so on....all different calibers, just didnt make sense to me....so I stayed with the basics  and said I will get good with the few that I have...... 22LR 12ga  38spec  9mm  45acp  5.56  308  30 06    pick from those  pick a couple.....sell the rest  and practice your ass of  with what you keep......if you cant get your ammo at wallyworld  sell it

I went the same route awhile back.
20+ long guns down to 5.
9 handguns down to 5.
Extra cash for optics, ammo, and mags.

I am happier, and didn't sell a single gun that I'd regret.
If you think you'll regret it, don't sell it.

ETA: I'm a shooter, not much of a collector. YMMV.

You have a pretty nice collection for being 22. I'd say keep them, and save for the SCAR. No reason the guns you have will not last a lifetime, and at some point, you'll want to shoot some of them. Maybe cut back on the repeats, like only keep the colt and sell the other AR's, use that money for a SCAR.

I was like you when I was younger, I had 70+ in my early 20s, I came back from Iraq after my first tour, and was overwhelmed, after being away I realized having a museum in my bedroom closet just wasn;t for me, Besides all I shot was my M1s ARs and my US mil guns, I sold most of them and now have 15 guns, thinking of getting rid of more as I'm getting back into black powder, and shooting my trapdoors (original mil issue)

good for you, I say it's a good thing to downgrade to a few really nice guns. I notice my shooting improves alot when I shoot the same guns, and not bring a new toy to the range everyday of the week.

But if you must, sell ME the Mini-14 Factory Folder

I got rid of my C&R license and down sized a bit a few years ago......I have realized that i enjoy hunting and shooting more than watching nice guns collect dust.  another big batch will be going down the road shortly to homes that will be able to care for them properly.  if you miss a gun that you sold, you will be able to find another example to replace it with if you really want one back.  one of the better things about getting olderis....the disposable income usually goes up.

the best part about the guys that say "never sell guns".....is that when they die their families usually dump them for dirt cheap because they could care less about the firearms.

I say keep these at the very least:

Arsenal 106FR
S&W M&P/VLTOR AR
RRA M4gery
870 riot gun
Century AK underfolder
H&K USP-9 w/ M2 light & supressor sights
Glock 34 w/ light
Glock 19

and maybe the Beretta 92 Inox

These are the basics that and really cover most issues.  However, unless you can sell your guns for decent prices, I would save for the SCAR or M1A.  I just hate giving money away in gun sales, so I would check what you can get out of your guns first.
