Looking for a quick and easy set up that runs off wifi and can be viewed from a iphone.
How does this one look: DEFENDER 21030 SENTINEL 8-Channel Smart Security DVR with 4 Ultra Resolution Outdoor Security Cameras http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007ULT4KE/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_6?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER |

I guess I'm looking for best bang for the buck. I'm not really concerned with being able to see a freckle on someone's ass at 100ft but I'm sure it's like anything, you get what you pay for. When I said easiest, I ment something that is packaged together. Not looking to get too crazy and build my own PC dvr and add all these crazy cameras. I'm good with electrical and installation so that not a concern.
I want a 4 camera system to cover the exterior(longest distance is about 80ft) that has options to add more cameras if needed. Camera that can make out a face (it looked like the 600 could do that) Has night vision (I will probably add IR illuminators outside) Motion controlled recording Be able to access it from iPhone/iPad |

It looks like a power supply wasn't included so you will probably need one of these and these adapters. When choosing a power supply make sure you don't get one with glass fuses.
I think these are the specs for that camera. You're probably not going to make out a face from 80' away with those cameras. And their claim that you can get 2 years of recording on a 500GB HD is a joke, you might get 2-4 weeks if you're lucky. |

With camera systems you get what you pay for. You may think a budget system is a good "deal" and that you don't need to see fine detail at 100ft but trust me, once you get it up and running and you see how crappy the picture is you will wish really quickly you dropped proper coin on a decent system. As for WiFi forget about decent quality, or decent reliability. You need to hardwire that shit in otherwise you will have nothing but problems.
For the record I'm running a 16 camera home brewed system made up of ACTI E series and various Axis cameras, hardwired via CAT5E cable to a dedicated i7 and then backed up to 2 offsite NAS systems. Expensive as shit to set up but well worth it over the all in the box solutions you find on the internet. Best part is that if I want to upgrade my cameras I just unmount them from the wall and plug a new one in. |
