I have recently moved to a supressor friendly state and am going to build a mk12 mod0 clone, but already have a 20" colt HBar barrel that i was thinking of using. I initially wanted to do a full tilt clone with the 12th model, but saw the 3rd and thought that might work with what i have already. I have never seen how/ what the 3rd model mounting is like. i read it uses the standard 1/2 x 28 threads and an alignment collar....is it the same collar as the 12th model? so, if you guys could enlighten me on the ins & outs of the 3rd model i would appreciate it!
thanks, advntrjnky |
| The 3rd model requires the barrel to be profiled so the suppressor can slide back over the barrel some and screw onto the theads. I am not sure if you could use a collar or not. You can email Ron at mbsman @ sbcglobal.net and ask the man himself. He can tell you what all setups will work. |

i like your handi-rifle! i have one that i have been wondering what to do with and i may have just found out. I imagine it is pretty quite with only the hammer falling to make mechanical noise? or is there even a difference in perceived noise between the single shot, bolt, and semi? advntrjnky |

I bought it because it was cheap, 1/10 twist, I can beat the hell out of it and I don't care. The rifle shoots really good w/subsonics and I've heard louder pellet guns. semi's are louder than single and bolt guns. The action flying open to eject a casing lets noise cruise out. Up close/when firing its real noticeable. I had a guy at the range about 30-50 yds away, out to my left and back some, one day watching me shoot the AR10 suppressed. I unloaded 20 quick rounds onto the steel gongs at 100-200 meters at various places on the range. I quit shooting to reload and he came up to me to check my gun/silencer out and he slipped in the conversation how the noise sounded. He said that the rifle was really impressive because all the noise was coming from the area of the gongs and not where I was. He said the gunshot sounded like it was coming from the gongs. I tried to get him to trade places and let me stand off while he shot but he wouldn't do it . I hope next time to see for myself.
