So, I have two pistol/SBR upper builds that I'm looking at putting optics on. One is going to be a 12.5" Grendel and the other is a 10.5" Blackout.
My question, is a MK8 CQBSS for the Grendel and a VCOG for the Blackout too much optic for the SBRs. I want them to be somewhat Jack-of-All rifles. Both will be used in a daylight and NV role. Hunting (pigs), ringing steel, and general dicking-around. What say ye? |

I guess I'm asking whether or not that x6 and x8 are too much at the top end. Is is almost worthless to have that might magnification? Can I push Grendel out of a 12.5 barrel where x8 magnification would be useful? A 12.5" 6.5 Grendel goes transonic at about 700 yards depending on load / conditions. 8x is completely fine. |

Step 1 - Put whatever you want on them - Not overkill at all in my opinion given the performance of the grendel and even wouldnt be calling it overkill for a 5.56 gun honestly. Step 2 - Leave Commiefornia and SBR those bad boys. ![]() The bad boys are sitting out of state as SBRs on a trust. Just can't fondle their goodness on a daily basis at my home. |

JMB says a 2300fps 123 AMAX is super sonic past 900yards. I have lilja 12.5 Grendel arriving Monday. Still will be a bit before I can shoot it. |
