What optics do you like for the Barrett 50. Mine came with a Burris but I'm looking to upgrade. Been shooting out to 1200 to 1500 and my current scope just isn't cutting it. Thanks for any input.

Can't go wrong with a USO, NightForce or S&B...

I like Night Force

Check out their new line of scopes:   How about a 15-55x52mm for long range

I would advise against the "competition" scope from Nightforce or anyone else for that matter.  Assuming you meant 107/82/82CQ, I don't hear of many folks competing with them, more just enjoying them.

I Have the 5.5-22x56 NXS with MLR reticle. Not saying its the best, but lots of folks use it, and for me it works very very well.

Id also recommend staying away from cheap scopes. From what Ive seen/heard/experienced myself, they simply don't hold up, and don't track anywhere near as well as the better stuff.

Questions on optics such as this come up fairly often.  It's been my observation the NightForce scopes are the leading favorite and seem to hold up very well to .50 BMG recoil.

I have NF NXS scopes on two rifles and would say to just "buy once and cry once" and enjoy having a premium optic every day after that.

Well then I'm going to be part of that 10 percent that uses of millet tactical
until I have the extra funds for a night force as as I just spent 10 grand this month on a Barrett 50, ammo, brass, powder,
primers ct ect.
We shall see how it holds up

If you do decide on NF, wait as the new NXS ATACR scope should be out soon. NF should be releasing them at the end of the month or in Feb., if you want a good deal go over to Biggerhammer.net and contact Don. Can't miss him, he runs Long Range Supply and posts there regular.

The new ATACR has a larger tube, more adjustment and if you can believe, better glass.

I also hear that the new nightforce will be 5-22x50 0r 56 first focal plain. Thats why i picked up a used ss so i can atleast shoot it.

I was told when I first bought my M99 (which from what I can tell isn't true). That scopes with adjustable magnification aren't recommended on a 50 due to the recoil. I'm assuming the NF & Leupold M4 ER/T hold up?

In the late 80's and early 90's the .50BMG was destroying allmost all  adjustable magnification scopes, except Night Force (MOST THE TIME), even Leupold MKIII was not holding up. Then in the late 1990's Leupold started making the MKIII stronger and more and more people started using them more on a 50 including myself. I bought my 1st Leupold for a .50 in 1999, it was a 6.5-20x50 and it has never had a problem on any of my .50's. Then the Night Force NXS came out shortly after that and it became the most popular scope on the line. That being said, I have had to send in for repair 2 different Night Force scopes since 1999 and both times N F repaired them and did any upgrades since bought all for free and very fast turn around time. Now leupold makes the Mark4 adjusable magnification which is a lot stronger than the Mark III. Other company's have since been beefing up their scopes like Burris to withstand these big .50's.

Thanks for the info regarding adjustable scopes!  Might need to go out and replace the fixed Burris scope that came with the gun. Stoked!!
