I thought I would post this fairly scarce example of an original Russian "Dragoon" M91....Before the 91/30 the Russians made a shortened 91, for Dragoons (Mounted Troops) and others who needed a rifle shorter than the 91....
It was the same length essentially as the upcoming standardized 91/30, but had some major differences....the rear sight was the same curved saw tooth leaf as the 91, the barrel bands were solid, the front sight was the same blade as the 91, not the globe and post of the later 91/30.... Finding Dragoons in their original guise, and not updated to 91/30 status is pretty tough. Sadly I sold this one off some time ago....but I did own one for a while.... There are only really 2 ways Dragoons have made their way here to the US. Via Finland or Spain. Finding one in original configuration is hard. Yours does still retain the original dragoon solid bands so thats a nice feature.
All of my Dragoons are Finnish and a mix of Finn parts but i have a 1923 wearing its original stock. None of mine have a Dragoon handguard. You got a nice late Dragoon for a great price.
