Okay so I am thinking more about building a proper/useful overall armory for my family. I enjoy shooting and want to try some three gun shoots and classes but my primary interest is personal protection/home defense. My wife does carry and enjoys shooting and likes to have "her" guns.
Current: Glock 19 with threaded barrell and reg barrell (home defense/summerccw) Glock 26 (car gun) Keltec PF9 x2 (pocket ccw 1 wifey) Springfield XD9 subcompact (wifey ccw/home defense) Springfield Champion GI (winter ccw/heavily customized) Palmetto State Stripped AR reciever x2 (1 engraved for SBR waiting paperwork) Planned: Mossberg 930SPX (3gun/home defense) Mossberg 500 (wifey) Glock 17 threaded barrell (3 gun/home defense) Springfield Stainless GI (for custom build) Springfield XD9 service threaded barrell (wifey) 16 midlength kit for stripped reciever (wifey) 10/22 Takedown rifle with threaded barrell Savage Axis threaded .223 10.5 sbr for other reciever 223 suppressor 22lr suppressor 9mm suppressor |
Here's my practical suggestions. Also, barrel is spelled with one "L"

Wood? Camo? Glock 17 threaded barrell (3 gun/home defense) You've got your SBR AR15 for that now Springfield Stainless GI (for custom build) Doing it yourself? If not, buy a semi custom right out of the gate. Maybe a Dan Wesson Valor Springfield XD9 service threaded barrell (wifey) 16 midlength kit for stripped reciever (wifey) How does she do shooting long guns now? In my experience, it's not the overall wight of a rifle/shotgun that fatigues a woman, it's where the weight lies. A front heavy gun will be much heavier for her. Even a pinned 14.5" would make a noticeable difference in my experience. 10/22 Takedown rifle with threaded barrell good call. You'll want a few 10/22s though, they're addicting. I would get the bolt radiused and a set of tech sights Savage Axis threaded .223 For what? you'll have multiple ARs in 556. Go .308 or find a better varmint cartridge if that is the intent. This brings up another point that you have no hunting rifle or anything in .30 cal. How about a .308 precision bolt gun or a M1 Garand or M1A or LaRue OBR Heavy or SCAR 17? 10.5 sbr for other reciever For home defense. Check out DD Mk18 uppers 223 .308 suppressor This way it can be used on a .300blk, 6.5g, 6.8spc or a .308 bolt gun 22lr suppressor Make sure it's .22mag, 5.7x28 rated as well ie silencerco sparrow. 9mm .45acp suppressor for all the 1911s! DUH! Quoted:
add a 22lr pistol. Browning Buckmark Camper and a smith stainless wheelgun in .22lr Agreed about having an AK. Probably an Arsenal and a SBR'd Draco. |
