I was removing the testors paint from my lower with the thinner. I used the same rag (I thought I was on the dry side) to wipe my DD upper and KD lower. Now the upper is showing signs of exteme dryness ie turning white in some areas. My lower is fine although the finishes on the two are different. I have the upper soaking in clp..... Am I fuuuuuuuuu or what? Someone please tell me it will be fixable.....

I use NAPA brand brake cleaner to clean my ARs from time to time.  7400 I think.  Turns em kinda white and dry as a powder house.  Wipe on some Hoppes #9 and looks like new.

I have lubed it twice and once it dries it turns back white within couple of days..... did I damage the finish?

I gonna say no.  I've done the same thing with brake cleaner and had it happen.  Used laquer thinner also.  just keep throwing some clp on it.

edited:  may try to get the pores to soak up more lube by heating the part.  maybe even using petro jelly and heating up the part in the oven, works extremely well for me after parkerizing pistols.
