| I just put in for my first can (Form1). How much is the typical (if there is a typical) POI shift from my normal zero on my 11.5" SBR at 50yds? When I finally get approved the can will pretty much live on the rifle. Do you guys just re-zero with the suppressor? I plan on using buying most of my stuff (if not all) from SDTac including the Griffin adapter so I can use a Griffin brake. Will taking the can on and off to fit in the case affect POI? Sorry for all the questions but I'm just trying to get my research done. Any other info you can add that I didn't ask for would be much appreciated. |

Taking it off and on will not affect the zero, with a good mounting system.
Lots of companies claim no POI change - but think about it. You're putting an extra pound right at the end of your barrel. The weight alone is going to change things - that's why you free float a barrel, to remove any pressure points from the stock. Yet putting a pound of weight isn't going to change the POI? I wish, but it's going to. At 50, with a good mount, you should get 1 - 2 inches of POI. My POI go down with the can on, as you'd expect, with the drop off the barrel slightly from the weight. I'd sight it in with the can on, and then just use Kentucky elevation if for some reason you don't shoot it with the can. |

BLUF: zero it with the suppressor, you will shoot suppressed most of the time anyways. If you have a POI shift, odds are it will be only an inch or so, which you wont really notice on a plinker or a blaster... youll ring steel out to 400m no problem.
I've rarely had a can not have any POI shift. If your mounting system is rock solid, ive found to have less of a POI shift and a more consistent one at that. My experience below: on shorter barreled guns, with the barrel being more rigid and I suppose "sagging" less from hanging a suppressor on the end, the POI shift has been less, say, 1 inch lower at 50m. With plinking ammo and the natural dispersion you are going to have with it, I would say that the POI shift wont matter. I also have an SPR that wears an AAC mini 4 100 percent of the time. I measure POI shift suppressed/unsuppressed just for kicks even though I almost shoot exclusively suppressed. With a lightweight can and a rock solid mount, I had nearly zero poi shift on a 16 inch barrel wearing a lightweight can. Shot the same set up with a Saker556 and had about a 1.5-2 inch POI change suppressed. again, not surprised. one benefit which people bring up from time to time is an increase in accuracy with supressors. My 14.5 inch MicroMOA upper shoots about 1.5-2 inches unsuppressed with 77 grain CBC.... threw the can on and its 1 inch or less with the same ammo... Honestly, once you go with an adjustable gas set up and suppressed, properly tuned, you wont find a softer shooting, more accurate set up at all... im hooked. hope that helped! |

The can will be ~8 inches and I am using all titanium, even the spacer. I haven't quite decided on the baffles yet. Those might be SS. I have a fully adjustable piston system on it from Superlative Arms with a "white hot" Sprino buffer spring and a Spikes ST-T2 buffer. And I will have a Griffin brake with their taper mount. |
