tl;dr - I'm about to send my PS90 out to be engraved for my form 1/SBR, and I think probably the best place to engrave it would be underneath one of the charging handles - however, in order to remove that sled, the barrel needs to come out...and the spring needs to come out with it. And everyone jumps up and down and makes noise about how much of a pain in the ass it is. Has anyone actually let that spring go out? How much of a pain is it REALLY to re-assemble it back in when putting the short barrel back in and torquing it in? I can't find any youtube videos on it  Otherwise I'll just get it engraved under where the mag sits like some kind of a normal person, I guess... |

| I SBR’d mine last year and had to remove the barrel for the swap. It wasn’t hard at all, with the right tool, namely a thin metric wrench to unscrew the barrel. As noted, using a simple wooden dowel to keep the spring aligned while removing the barrel completely solves the problem. I had more problems removing the flash hider barrel shroud than swapping barrels. I didn’t find out what happens if you don’t capture the spring, but honestly it’s easy to simply avoid the problem in the first place. |

What’s your basis for assuming October 1, given that they haven’t issued anything saying the proposed rule change was even approved, much less given an effective date. However, if you’re a member of one of the Jensen plaintiff groups in the NFA injunction, you can skip engraving right now. |

Public comment period closed in early May; it usually doesn't take more than 90 days for a rule to be published. |

The 60 day comment period ended July 6. 90 days would be October 6, or there abouts, but there is nothing that says the rule, if approved, has to be published in 90 days. And there is nothing that says a rule has to be effective immediately. I’m hoping that it comes, but not holding my breath. I’m wondering if the injunction kind of put a hold on working through all of these proposed changes. |
