We have used a few PTR 9s with a post sample trigger pack. The first were last few have roller marks. Any suggestions how to avoid this? The only thing I have so far is to change.the locking piece to a different one like 110%. The one before this picture was so bad the bolt would go back forward.

Assuming standard pressure, or even +P ammunition is being used, then a recoil spring which is within specifications should prevent the over-cycling that causes "roller dents" in the receiver.

What stock are you using? What’s the bolt gap? What ammunition?

It's a rental so s&b, 115 or magtech 115. It has the factory PTR rifle stock.

As Stalgewehr mentioned, I bet the culprit is the recoil spring. But bolt gap could be playing a role too. What is the bolt gap? Do you have an estimated round count on the gun? Did you make any changes from its stock configuration, like changing the locking piece?

Round count is about 5k. Only change was the trigger pack.

What is the bolt gap? You’re not responding to the most pertinent question.

All of this... Bolt Gap, Recoil Spring. Recoil spring is cheap insurance, the Bolt gap if not too far out is easy to adjust, if too far out resetting the barrel...
