new to NV and doing research on mounts.  I don't have $500+ to buy one, so looking at the one that TNVC sells with the "full" kit (USGI Rhino) vs. the WIlcox L4 G11 that someone recommended.  Looks like the WIlcox is about $100 more; is it worth it???  Other recommendations?

I am going with the Wilcox L4 3-hole shroud FWIW and also probably the Omni (input on Omni vs. Pinnacle vs. Night Enforcer welcome too)

Thanks!

I think the Rhino is some kinda "right of passage" to all we newbies in night vision kingdom. If you don't begin with a Rhino, you'll never know just how much better everything else really is -- maybe even duct tape.

Thank you for the consideration.  The G11 is a step up from the USGI that assist with the wobbles from the USGI J-Arm connection to the USGI Rhino.

As for units, we REALLY like the Omni units for a bit more recoil resilience up to and including 6.8SPC. The ITT's also look very good if all your doing is head mounting.  Very shorty, we're going to publish a thing or two about tubes and our TNV-14 program, it seems a few rumors have started about tubes, lead times etc. on what we offer and more importantly what you can expect from our PVS-14 from the onset of your purchase. We have no grab bag surprises with our PVS-14's.  Look for another thread shortly.  Thank you.

Thanks all...I've done the "rite of passage" on enough other stuff; think I will pass on this one!

It sounds like the Wilcox will help with j-arm "issues" so that is a good thing.  I see the weapon-mount lists up to 300BLK; does this mean I should avoid putting on an AR-10 platform I assume? :)

Most likely will run a DBAL/ITAL but might be good to have a means to mount to 5.56/6.8.

Charles has been helpful answering some of my other questions, just FYI.  Seems like a good crew there.

thanks again,
Jon

Yes up to and including a 6.8/300BLK. Most times the most effective way is to mount the 14 on your head with a IR laser on your gun.

Thanks for the kind words. I will let Chip know as well.

while i have your attention, was reading about the "Down Range Gear" NRL-1/2/3 items from a few posts (rave reviews).  For $11, a good idea?  Seems like those who have like them.  I'll be getting a mount with lanyard, but what I read, the NRL's help with "wobble."

Thanks again!
