| Hi, I have a PVS-7. The problem is when I turn it on, only half the display works. Part of it is on and part of it is black. How do I fix this problem? is it easy or is it a big problem? thanks guys |

Hi, I have a PVS-7C. The problem is when I turn it on, only half the display works. Part of it is on and part of it is black. How do I fix this problem? is it easy or is it a big problem? thanks guys You mean only one of the two sides works (i.e. left eyepece or right eyepiece) or only part of the screen in each works? If it is only the left or right working, most likely the prism that splits the single image from the tube into the two eyepeices is misaligned internally. If only part of the screen is working, that is for someone else to ID the problem, not my field of expertise! that being said, someone here will know what the issue is and how to fix it... Just a quick question - In a PVS-7C, you have adjusted the position of the eyepieces haven't you? ( They move in and out to accommodate different widths between eyes or IPD's ) - If you don't have both aligned correctly, then you will see only a part of the image through either ocular - Just use a little force on either part at the same time and they will move side to side. They both have to move at the same time. Unlike the PVS-14, the PVS-7A/C has what is known as an "exit pupil" and if your eye isn't in the right place, you'll only see a part of the image... Though it could be a mechanical issue like is described above - David.

| So I move both to the left and try it then try moving both to the right to get the perfect view? And intensifier tubes don't just go half dark do they? because the side of the intensifier that works, works great. so it is most likely what you have suggested (I will have to try that in the morning) or could it be something else? |

I'm confused - the I thought the whole PVS-7 line (minus the A's) looked pretty similar. I've had a couple dozen and they were all the same. lol. Well, if you only see half the screen, can you try and stick a camera up to the eyepiece and try and snag a picture so we can see what you see. Just need 1 side really, since they are doing it on both side.
You could have something internally blocking part of the tube - or - It could be a massive blemish, etc. Have they always done this, or are they new to you? |

Yea now looking at the PVS-7 and 7c, mine has the big battery tube on the bottom for the batteries, the C does not. So its confirmed now I DONT have the 7c. And yes this is all very new to me! I have just received them from a friend and i have never messed with NVG's before lol. And apparently you cant get the 7C so i defiantly don't have that. My apologies.
and ok leme get a picture for you and post it up. |
| Ok well I cant find the button to attach an image, but just picture half of the moon, I see half great and the other half is dark. That's what I see in both eye pieces. Even when I adust them to my eyes and focus them. Also I just took out the intensifier and looked through both eye pieces and they appear to be lined up perfectly. Can the tube just go half dark? Thanks |
| Also, on the portion that's black, you can see tiny little specs of green that just appear like stars in the black area, then go away in a milisecond. I am not too sure what that's called but it's almost like something is blocking half of the intensifier from the inside |

Yeah, your tube is dying. Sorry. Quoted:

Ok so I just tested it, only a small portion of the tube lights up green, so does thay mean my tube is bad? Can I fix this or is it just done?? Yeah, your tube is dying. Sorry. Unfortunately it does sound like the tube is dying... |
