Anyone know what type of paint they use??

Lead paint?

(rimshot)

Although seriously, it does remind me of the Nyclad stuff. I wonder what would happen if you Duracoated a cast bullet. That would be an interesting experiment.

I wonder if it isn't some type of epoxy coating.
7/6/2010 3:14:42 PM EDT

I wonder if you still need the bullets lubed? or does the paint act as the lube?
7/6/2010 3:35:45 PM EDT

Odd... just when ya think you have seen darn near everything...How the heck did ya stumble opon those?
7/6/2010 5:08:17 PM EDT

Cool if you could make your own.

What do these cost? Same as jacketed?
7/6/2010 5:28:47 PM EDT

They didn't say that you clean your gun with paint thinner Comes with a free buzz too

Some of those bullets look like candy.

Bayou Bullets cast bullets are green. They say they don't have to use lube due to the coating.

I found the link from a post on another shooting forum,,,

They are cool..

I'm going to keep looking,,

I cast bullets,, and after casting and sizing,, I want to find this paint and do up a batch or two and try them out,

they are supposed to shoot clean and accurate!

Seems like for the "paint" to protect the barrel from leading, it will have to be pretty strong and adhere strongly to the lead bullet or else it will be ripped off as soon as it enters the barrel and then the leading will then occur as if there was no covering?

Will do,,,,

I'm hoping on the three forums,,,,, I post on someone will,, have more info,,

it is all about the paint!!

Google Precision bullets.

They are among MANY makers of "coated" pistol bullets out there.  Coating is "polymer" of one sort or another.  Most contain Moly Disulfide.  Loading data/performance similar to Lead.

There is some question about the toxicity of the smoke produced by these.

I have some Precision bullets,, but what do they use,,, can you get it in colors,, and how do you apply it,,,

They taste like burning

Sorry, I had to

Actually these look pretty cool, too bad there are no USA distributors. I wonder if they still lube the bullets after they paint them? I wouldn't mind trying some of the 155gr 45's.

I have found out that they size them,,, but do not lube them,,

They are probably similar to some aluminum composite CQC bullets I have in .357 with a red coating. They are only good for very short range though because they shed velocity at a terrible rate, but are very accurate, have very light recoil and contribute to very rapid followup shots. Unfortunately they're out of production now.

on the web page they do say they are Regular,,, bullet lead,,,,,

I have tried other paint,, in the past,, but it did not work very well,,,

I'm sure,,, if they sell it in Europe,, someone has it in the US,,,

but it is the needle in the hay stack,,,

I have found a paint, that might work,, but the paint store has to order it,, it is water base and can be sprayed,,, it comes clear,, and I hope to be able to test,, adding color to it,,

Just to know,,, lets say,, I come up with a good

Formula,, and some directions of how to apply it,, if someone,, was to sell a bottle in a kit, that would coat, 5000 to 1000 bullets,,,

You would have to have a air compressor low volume gravity feed spray gun,

I will have to test,, other ways to apply this product,,, in testing when I get it,,,

How much would a bullet caster be willing to pay for this?

Not much. Us casters are cheap!

I hear you,,,,

but a good lube,, stick,,, cost over $3 and that is good to make,, between,, 1000 to 2000 depending on the bullet,,

so $25 to $30 to coat 10,000 is  about,, the same $$$$$$$

But I will have to see what the stuff cost,,

You would also be competing against tried and true vs. unknown and odd.

I would try it myself though if it were cheap enough and saved time or was close to the same amount of work as standard lubes.

Very true,,, going against the tried and true,,,,,,

but New,,, is the hard part,,, the Euro folks,,, love them, say they shoot as clean or better than jacketed,

and are cheaper than jacketed,,

I think the cool factor of showing up to the match or the range with, Fire Engine red, Hot green or some other color,

will help win the day,,

Do you know if the paint changes the dimensions of the bullets?

I am interested in trying this. Hope its cheap!

I'm sure it does,,,,,,,,, looking at these pic's..

they are thick,,,

I would cast the bullet,, size it then,, put this stuff on them,,,

I just have to figure out what this stuff is???????

Makes me interested in doing a little research.
