Painting a Hogue stock

Has anybody tried painting a Hogue rubber coated stock?

What paint did you use? Did it peel off? Any tips for the first timer?

I hear plasti-dip works ok on rubber but not sure how it would hold up on the high wear areas. Never tried it myself.
