Individual in another state transferred to a dealer in your state? That's what took 2 months? Once a dealer in your state had the can, he could have e-filed to you. I don't see how it would matter used vs new can. |

Nope, individual directly to a dealer in their same state and then Form 3 to a dealer in my state. Suppressor was purchased from an individual out of state. The process for this is generally as follows: The individual files a Form 4 (the person who currently has possession of the suppressor/person selling the can) to get it transferred to a FFL/SOT in their state so it can then be placed on a Form 3 (FFL/SOT to FFL/SOT) to the receiving dealer that is out of state. In this case the first Form 4 from the individual (party selling the can) to the FFL/SOT (in their state) has to be done via a paper Form 4. Once it arrives on a Form 3 to the out of state FFL/SOT it can then go on a Form 4 (to the end purchaser / individual) that can be e-filed. Alternatively - some dealers that are out of state may be cool with receiving a class 3 item from an individual. In my case they were not, so had to go through a local FFL to get it on a Form 3 first. The additional Form 3 doesn't add much wait at all. Just a little bit more of a pain in the ass. End result was still a paper form 4 that got approved in under 3 months. Sorry if that was long winded. Probably could have articulated that better. |

I’m a FFL/SOT and I bought a Sten out of state from a private individual and was just curious. |

F4 - Trust Purchased 3 cans 2017 (under FFL) - and kept under FFL until Sep. 2022* - Submitted F4 Aug 2021 -all 3 - Approved F4 Sep 2022 -all 3 - Took 2 weeks for the F4's to arrive in the mail. From F4s put in mailbox, to approved F4s received - 13 months - *Posted this, since I figured they lost the F3...couldn't find records, etc. No issues on that side, it all went well. |

Form 4 Individual Rad 22 Suppressor Filed 3/4/22 Approved 10/12/22 My first suppressor. Mailed paperwork for 2 SBR the same day in March and both were approved in less than 2 months. Makes no sense that this should take 7 months assuming background checks are the same. |
