Finally, my para fal is done.  Here's what I built her with:

DSA Type 1 receiver
Imbel kit
DSA Para Kit
SAW Type Grip
US Handguards
DSA Belgian OSW muzzle break

thinking of getting a para or buying one already built....did you save any by building it or come out about even?

It came out less than buying a DSA by about $500 I guess.

That is a fine looking build. It is a shame to dress such a fine shooter in those Penguin HGs. They really do detract from the appearance of an otherwise excellent rifle.

Why do the Penguins always do that?

It's not an optical illusion.

Cause they weren't designed right.

They also melt to the gas block if you fire about 80 rounds thru the rifle in under 5 minutes AMHIK.

<==== The 8mm uses Penguin HG, but they have been modded to have the inch laminate HG metal as the front attachement and bolt directly to the bbl nut at the rear.

You can also do the scallop-cut on the top four inches closest to the gas block.  It takes most of the "brokeback" look out of them.  You'll need a good belt-sander.  Prime and paint, and it looks good.

Best,
