I am about to place my first powder and primer order and just want to make sure that this will be good to go before I hit the submit button.
I am ordering 5000 CCI 450 primers and 8lbs of Tac powder for to use in my AR15 with 55gr bullets. I was going to get some CFE223 powder but it looks like the Tac may be a better value because it used less powder per load.

You need more powder.

Get 8 more lbs to use up almost all those primers.

(at 24gr / load = 2333 loads / 8 lbs) * 2 = 4666 loads / 16 lbs powder

Well I can get the powder loacally but the primers are the part that I can't find lately. I also didn't want to go crazy on the powder just in case I dont like it and want to try something different.

If you're having to put down the HazMat Ship money for the primers, might as well get a big wad of them at one shipment.

+1

If it were me, I'd add anything to make the HazMat cost worth it... new powders you might want to try out, tracers (if they'll bundle), & lots of primers.

Where would be the best place for an order like this? I think I should probably place one myself.

Check Graf & Sons hazmat and shipping costs.

This.
5k primers and 8lb of powder hardly seems worth it.

Primers might be the new Krugerrand. Order more than you think you will ever use.

Pssst.....

Hey fellas, ovoir here. (5000 primers and 8#s of powder adds up to a pretty hefty chunk of change.)

Buy what you can budget. If it were me I'd be fine with buying some powder locally since you can. Focus on ordering the stuff that's hard to come by locally.

You wont regret using TAC. I use it for 69 gr  SMK loads and 55

I try to get with shooting friends to maximize the order.

Unfortunately my budget is pretty limited right now and I ordered what I could afford to order. I recently bought two new AR15's and a Dillon press. I would have loved to order 25,000 primers and 100 pounds of powder but 5000 will have to do for now.

Powder Valley.

If you find friends to go in on the order you can maximize that HazMat fee.  1K primers = 1# of powder and you can mix and match to a total of 50# on one Hazmat fee.

Powder Valley has better prices than Grafs.

Buy the Wolf SRM from wideners ($80/5K) and use the savings to help pay for that second jug of powder.

I'm happy with wideners so I'll check them, thanks.
Now, if I could get with someone to split a powder order I'd be happy!

I wanted to order from Widener's but I didn't like the 8-12 waiting period they have on all order's right now. I will def look at Powder Valley for my next order though.

Rob, their sites only allows for residential delivery, which is lots higher than commercial. I'll call them tomorrow and check on this and post up.

Raydee, that just means they're backed up=lots of orders=busy shop=lots of customers=buyer confidence. At least to me!

Yeah I was told Widener's is a great place to order from but I am a little impatient right now. Monday my Dillion will be here and and want to get loading asap.
