I'm looking at plate carriers with integrated soft armor. Is an integrated level IIIa plate carrier + lvl III the way to go?

FYI
The main threats I will be facing will be M193 M855 possibly 7.62
and 9mm .40 and .45 during classes.

I'm looking at DBT Fast Attack Plate carrier and eventually getting plates. What's my best option?

If you're needing to stop M855 or M193 specifically, I would look for a plate that specifically states it will, or has been proven to, stop those rounds.  Neither is included in the NIJ testing protocols.

Those are very good plates for the price.  Just consider getting a spall guard to cover the strike face, especially if you're carrier isn't going to be covered with pouches and kit.  Also, ensure you get the right size carrier/plate combo so that the plates ride correctly and cover your vitals.  Seen way too many guys get the Large plate carrier and then put medium sized plates in it, and they ride low in the carrier.
