Ok so I switch the projectiles I use and now I am getting powder blow back.

It's not bad, but it annoyes me pretty good.

WSP
3.5gr of Power Pistol
124gr Hard Cast Lead
Random Head Stamp Brass

I am using a charge below the minumal and still getting blow back.

I have been working my way down to try and stop this.

Work up! There is not enugh chamber pressure to make a seal between case and chamber causing bypass. More powder, more powder.

As stated, you're going the wrong way on your powder.  The blow back is the result of an insufficient seal between the case and the chamber caused by too low chamber pressure.  Power Pistol is a great powder for heavy loads.  It wasn't designed for light loads as was a powder like Hodgdon's TiteGroup.

In 9mm, I love Power Pistol for full power Jacketed loads.

Clays is what I use with 122 gr cast. Very accurate in my CZ.

Have to agree with the 2 previous posts.

I have some Clays I can use as I bought the Power Pistol when I was loading jackets.

Sooted cases and powder blow back are almost always the result of too light a load. I use powders like WW-231, Tite Group, and Bullseye when shooting lead. Fast powders will give you the bump you need to seal the chamber.

Power pistol is a great powder in 9mm or .40 S&W when loaded from the middle range to full power. Not so good for lead or slower velocities.

In 9mm, I am loading 3.0 grs Clays, Win cases, 122 gr CN cast, Magtech SP primer, OAL 1.125. Have also used Wolf SP primer with same data.

Got my data from Hodgdon's 2009 manual p153.

Bullet 125 gr LCN (lead conical nose) .356 dia.

Clays start 2.9 grs for 899 fps  /  Max 3.3 grs for 993 fps.

Cycles my CZ 85 100%, and is a very light recoiling load.

I quit looking for a cast bullet load after finding this load.
