Mayhaps I don't let my lube dry enough - how concerned (from accuracy standpoint) should I be about the sticking powder - the bullet pushes the powder down? RCBS doesn't use carbide neck expanding balls (FWIW: if you get a case stuck, send them the die and $5 - for return shipping - and they will fix it). RCBS says to lube inside of case neck - but if you wear out the expander ball, they will send you a new one (I'm more worried about split necks).

I wouldln't worry about it, the bullet will still go bang.

The only thing to be concerned about is if the powder clogs the neck and when you drop powder the powder goes all over the floor instead of inside the case

I tumble off case sizing lube with plain corn cob.

This also removes the lube from inside the neck.

I'm on a 550B and that would be a PITA!

Use an RCBS nylon brush to lube the insided of the case neck on bottle neck rounds. Use a small amount of lube. The expander will pull any excess out with it. As said above, watch for bridging of the powder if you use to much lube.

I used to do this and it worked fine.

Now use Imperial dry lube.
The nice thing about the dry lube is it does both the inside and the outside of the neck without any fear of denting the shoulder. Oh yeah, no build up, or powder sticking either.

Not sure what you mean.

Tumbling off lube is part of case prep.

After case prep is done, then you load the cases.

Use all the lube you want, just swoosch your cases around in the sink with some Dawn and hot water, rinse and dry em, dont take long at all works great.

So when do you check case length and trim if needed?

I'm using dedicated lots of brass, not range brass, that was prepped and setup for RCBS-X die. I check 2 of 10 in Dillon case gauge prior to sizing and 2 of 10 after sizing. I'm relative new to bottle neck reloading - but if I'm in trouble here, please advise.
