From what I've seen a lot of ppl are using universal and titegroup. I will be shooting it out of a glock .22 with kkm barrel and a glock 23 with kkm barrel. Anyone else have any suggestions. I would like to be shooting 180grn bullets

Blue Dot, Unique, and AutoComp have all worked well for me.

Coming from a noob who reloads.....Win 231, IMR 800X, Unique, IMR 700X  have worked real well for .40 S&W and Xtreme 180 gr. pills.  Try to find those and

other pistol powders at your LGS or online is the real problem.  Good luck!

Just open a reloading manual or visit a powder makers site, many powders will work.

Not all powders are available, so make a list when you go to buy.

Don't know the powder makers site? Look up in Links, (top of the page) that's where all of the links are.

I use blue dot.

I have a Speer manual and blue dot shows the highest velocities.

I use 700-X and 800-X but then again it's the only pistol powder I could find in the last 5 months.

If I want a hardhitting  round I use Longshot.  Very accurate.  Longshot is a typical shotgun powder. I have found it everywhere.

Win 231/HP38 is also a favorite and its much softer shooting and accurate too.  This powder is hard to get.

Bullseye works well also.

I've used both Winchester 231 or Unique with good results, Blue Dot had a tremendous amount of unburned powder, I shot it once over a bench that was painted white, after about 25 rounds I could write my name in the unburned powder on the bench in front of me, I've been reloading for pistols for over 45 years and I've never seen that before.  I think its designed for heavy magnum charges in 357 mag or 44 mag, probably using magnum primers.

Blue Dot or Power Pistol. That's about all I use anymore.

I have some good #7 loads, but my powder thrower does not like it.

Titegroup.  Works for all the autos basically.  And yes, you can find it.

I'd be careful with this, and avoid it entirely if you want full power loads.   There are a lot of blown up .40 guns with TG.

Bullseye has been great for my 40's. Light shooting plink loads. I am about to try Power Pistol and 231 as I finally came into some...

You can't beat Long Shot for .40 SW. 1500 ft/s 135 gr loads.

I use bullseye for my 40 plinking ammo as well. Will be loading a bunch of 9mm for my wife with it soon.

I use WST for my target rounds and WSF for device loads in my G23 with KKM barrel.
Very happy with those two powders.

Power Pistol for heavier rounds in both cartridges. Bullseye for lighter side of things for both has worked for me but Power pistol is very dirty for anything under 140grn in 9mm. Even with 147's it is a tad dirty when compared to Bullseye. I've ran it in loads down to 90 grns with charges so low it wouldn't cycle.( which was around 5.0grns in my gun)

Bullseye uses a slightly smaller amount of powder than Power Pistol.

A lot of good suggestions here. I enjoy how clean Accurate No. 5 burns in 40 S&W.

It may not produce the top speeds, but it is a heck of a lot cleaner burning.

For light to medium loads TiteGroup is hard to beat if you don't mind the dark stains on the cases.  For full power loads, I like Power Pistol.

I'm not looking for full power loads, just target loads, but can you explain to me why its not good on the hot end.  I have 8 pounds and have not opened it yet.

Whatever you can find at this point....

but I've shot 1000s of rounds with Power Pistol.  Usually a 180gr Berry.

That's funny, I'm in SWPA and I can get Titegroup all day long for $15 a pound over in Ohio, about 40 minutes away.  I have not seen W231 under $40 a pound around here.

Hmm, same with me. The nice thing is that you can load 9mm, and.45 too. Luckily I bought 8 pounds of it before this nonsense started.

I agree with this.

I use Bullseye for everything. 9mm, 38spl, 40 S&W, 44mag, 45ACP .

I like Bullseye for heavy bullets more than lighter ones but it works just fine for all of it and I have about 25lbs of the stuff.

With that said, I have a racegun load of 11.0gr of BlueDot under a 135gr and it makes USPSA Major and there is no doubt when it goes off. It works a comp really well.

PowerPistol has a very bright and violent muzzle blast but I found it to be very accurate too.

Look here for some other 40 S&W loads.
http://handloads.com/loaddata/default.asp?Caliber=40%20SqqqW&Weight=All&type=Handgun&Order=Powder&Source=

Just remember to work up slowly. 40 S&W is not exactly a forgiving round and most factory loads are at or very near max pressures.

#5 and I happened to pick up 10 lbs from Midsouth last week.  Should arrive today.  It's a good feeling
to not have to worry about pistol powder for a while.  I used to load #2 in 40 and had very good results.

11 grains of Blue Dot sounds like  10mm load.  I'll bet there is no doubt when that goes off.
