Hopefully I won't start a major debate here....
Not only would I practice with bird shot # 7/12 or #8, but I'd also use it in any home defense scenario. Granted 00Buck and slugs are more powerful, but for the distance you'll be shooting inside your house bird shot will be more than perfect. Plus with bird shot you don't have to worry nearly as much about harming family members on the opposite of the wall. |

If it won't penetrate a wall it won't penetrate deep enough into tissue to reach vital organs unless it's almost a point blank shot. Use whatever you want. People here will criticize you for it but you may want to reconsider your ammunition choice. If it comes down to you an an armed assailant do you really want your shotgun loaded up with something intended for taking small birds. You don't even want to use #7 1/2 or #8 for turkey so what makes you think it's adequate for two legged predators? Just something to think about... CMS |
