Someone is selling a Springfield m1a scout locally.  He is including 500 rounds of ammo new in box with it.  It has been shot, but it seems to look pretty good.  Anything I should ask, or look out for?  Does anyone know a good buying price?  thanks!

Why is it up for sale?
What would a new Scout Squad cost in your area? Around here, I can get an AA9126 for $1,589.00 delivered including all taxes and fees.
You need to perform a detailed examination of the rifle to determine the overall condition.
When was it manufactured? (Does it have any USGI parts?)
Wood or synthetic stock?
What brand is the ammo?
How many magazines are included?

The first responder has very good questions.  Depending on what kind of ammo he is including (probably mil surp), the value of that can vary.  Back in the day you could get a case for $139 so the cost to him may only cost 70 bucks.  In today's market 500 rounds can cost easily two or three times that.  I would probably give a current value of 200 for the ammo.  As for the rifle, go to the first post and research prices around you.
