I know about the markup. Flagstaff isn't a rich town. Think that the average per family income with both parents working is right at $40,000. But there are a LOT of second homes here, both for people from the Phoenix area and from California. So the locals aren't rich but there is money here. Flagstaff gunstores su@K, or at least use to. One, the Ammo Place, doesn't carry guns. They will order them but nothing in stock. Another, the Pistol Parlor, has virtually no inventory. Their companion business, Reeder Custom Guns, literally makes beautiful revolvers but the Pistol Parlor has no stock. The third, Horizons, has a LOT of new guns but prices that are WELL beyond high. And then there is Ruffs. Ruffs use to sell porn, liquor and guns. The name was perfect. But about a year ago they switched to just guns and they REALLY cleaned the place up. REALLY cleaned it up. The inventory is fair sized. Everything from cheap to expensive. The sales people are actually sales people, as opposed to someone bored out of their minds. And they are easy to get along with. Yes this FN has a high profit but people are buying. Not the locals but the second home owners. Still it is nice to see a gunstore that is really trying succeed. |
