Gentlemen,
In my quest to start getting components to reload for .223/5.56 I am at a crossroad for primers and yes i know there is a shortage so I have brass and I plan on using either IMR 4895 or RE-15 and from my understanding the RE-15 will meter better but may try the 4895 as I have had no metering issues loading it in 30.06/.308 cases on my 550 for years, anyway I most likely will use a 69g Nosler CC pill sitting on top of either powder in either a .223 or 5.56 case but am having a heck of a time finding small rifle primers other than Wolf/Tula and I have never used either of these two and looking for insight as to how they perform before I purchase. Thanks |

I have very good results with Wolf and Tula primers in all sizes. Tula Berdan primers are good also. Please don't turn this into a "where to find primers" thread. We have a tacked thread, top of the page, for that. Don't get your thread locked. Quoted:

Promise won't do that was curious as to whether the Wolf/Tula brand was GTG as I have only been using Fed 210 and WLR along with CCI pistol for the last 5-6 years and the Russian primers seem to be available |

| I use Tula in both .223 & .308 with no issues. The cups are harder/thicker giving you the advantages of the #41 primers for an AR. The primers are a couple of ten thousandths larger and are sometimes more difficult to seat in once fired brass. On the other hand, my .308 primer pockets get a little large after 5-6 firings of some of my hotter loads and the Tula's fit real nice. Accuracy wise, they are at least equal to Win LR's in my AR-10. I bought 10,000 in early '10 and will buy more when I get low. |
