I've never done this before, so I figured I'd ask more experienced loaders.

I was getting ready to load some new 6.8 rounds and placed an order for the bullets.
So, I got impatient and went down and took the brass through most of the loading process, including priming the brass.

So got an email few days later, saying they went into backorder ( a month wait ). So I canceled the order and decided to look for the local.
Couldn't find them. So, longer story shorter, the primed brass have sit in ammo boxes ( plastic cases ) for the last 4 months...

Should the primers be good still?

They should be fine.  Primers are pretty tough to kill.

I have primed brass that sat open for 2 years before I got them finished and they all work well.

(Put them away so well that I could not find them.)

Primers sitting in the original box are no different than primers seated in cases sitting waiting to be loaded.

Store in cool dry place = no problems.

I primed up some hulls for my 12ga and stashed them away when I went away for college. Two years later they shot just fine without a problem! They were stored in an old box for clays, but they were in a cool dry place!

If you have to wait past say 2050 be sure to keep them cool and dry other wise if you intend to use them quickly say before 2040 don't worry about it

Yes; I am serious
