My skeet buddy went a primer hunting again and scored some shotshell primers and small pistol primers.  He doesn't load large pistol, small rifle, or large rifle so he offered me his leftovers.

Here's the left overs, about 1800 or so mixed stuff.  He wanted $20 but then I explained, yeah I could use them but I don't need them, I have over 100K of primers of all types (shotshell, small/large pistol/rifle), so I offered $10.  He refused and I split the difference and got them all for $15

The score contained a lot of vintage primers, but the seller went herp and derp and ruined the collectability of the primer boxes by going Klingon on them with an ink pen

The score:

Details

Late 80's vintage CCI small rifle, not too retro, this is the last style before the current style of CCI primers I believe

CCI large pistol and large pistol magnum

CCI small rifle and small rifle magnum

Dynamite Nobel Berdan primers.  This breaks my heart, skeet buddy said the package was unopened but he opened them anyway and closed them up with scotch tape  Anyway, they're way cool.  Never seen anything like this before and anything that has Dynamit Nobel as it's name is instantly cool!

The packaging would probably give the folks at Federal an aneurism

Aren't the Nobel primers Berdan? I don't see an anvil on them.

Are you going to visit the dark side now?

With those Berdan primers?

Yeah, they're Berdan.   Looks like I'm going have to make 150 berdan reloads.  I have some South African 308 surplus ammo I'll reload with the Berdan primers after I shoot 150 rounds of it

If you have the time, please post some pics of how you do this. I'm sure quite a few of us would like to see the process. Nice score BTW.

Those are not the Berdans you need for .308 (pic below) which are 5.5mm

They are the ones for .303 British and the old Kynoch cases

Dang.  If that's the case then the 6.5mm berdan primers are useless to me.  Maybe I'll just put them in a can and torch them or something, 10 at a time or make exploding targets for BB guns

Keep um you never know you might end up with a SMLE and some ball ammo you might want to reload. Or find someone to trade them to. Hell they cost $17.95 plus shipping a pack; back in 1996, besides they don't blow up near as easy as boxers; due to no integral anvil

Another vote for keeping them.
