I just bought a Superswage at my LGS. Set it up according to the directions, and the primers seem to seat way to easy. How much effort should it take using a Hornady hand primer. Was using the RCBS swaging die prior to this, the superswage seems to do a better job. Just wondering if this is how it should be. I got it set just so the case slips in past the clip, I don't see how it could be over swaging this way.

Thanks.

Sounds like you answered your own question. It sounds like you may be swaging too much.

Different headstamps will require a different amount of swaging.

I use part of the RCBS swaging die kit as a go/no go gauge. I swage a bit, then stick the 'button' in the primer pocket to see how it fits. Then adjust the swager until the button fits flush after you swage.

Unless you have a "very good feel" for swaging, you will need to sort cases by headstamp before swaging.

Why? Case brands vary in the web thickness. Web is what swager indexes on.

Someone new to swaging won't "have the feel" and will over/under swage.

Remember when swaging, swage 1 case...seat a primer. Adjust swager as needed. Repeat until you get adjustment correct.

When you get to the next headstamp repeat: swage 1 case...seat a primer. Adjust swager as necessary.

Sounds like you ruined some cases. You aren't the only one to have done this.

The cases are all OFB LC, do I need to sort by year? I only ran 3 so far.

I have never felt the need to sort LC to years for swaging.

Your brass could be different than what I have.

So go slow, by that I mean swage a few cases and then prime them.

Testing a few cases (various headstamps/years) as you start swaging will tell you how to proceed.

OFB? Please enlighten me.

I had a Dillon Superswage- the small swaging spud had a taper which would loosen the entire primer pocket if swaged too deeply. I reduced the diameter of the spud, and left a small radius which rounded out the crimp area- The rcbs swager spuds are machined similarly.
