It nearly always spits last round from mag tube onto the ground. Last round won't be pushed from tube onto lifter, but it sure will eject it after bolt is closed. Switched to stronger Wolf mag-tube spring. No change.

Fortunately the pump gun is a very simple design.

Step One...Try some different, better grade shells.  Cheap shells may malf, some guns just don't "like" some ammo.

Key suspects are:
Damaged/unscrewed magazine tube.
Problem with the shells stops.

Check the mag tube for any dents or crushed areas near the rear.
Make sure it's screwed on all the way.  Mossberg usually uses a loctite on the tube threads.
Inspect the throat of the mag tube for damage, burrs, or wear.
Check the inside of the tube and spring for rust or fouling.   Scrub the inside of the tube with a 10 gauge brush or a shotgun mag tube brush from Brownell's.
Check the follower for damage or expansion.

Check both shell stops for impacted fouling or debris behind the stops.  The Mossberg stops disassemble rather easily.
Clean them and the receiver where they mount and look for burrs, fouling, or shell debris.
Check the stop springs for damage or loss of tension.
Check stop timing....... when the pump is pulled back one stop releases one shell into the receiver and the next shell is caught by the other stop and prevented from moving farther back in the tube.
When the pump is pushed forward the next shell is allowed to move to the rear a fraction of an inch into the next to feed position.
If timing is off due to fouling, wear, bad springs, damage, etc timing may be off and shells will not stage out properly.

You can check stop operation by turning the gun upside down and operating the action very slowly as you observe the stop action.
Use a dummy shell or so this in a safe area.

Worse comes to worse, send it in to Mossberg for repair.

I'm going with the shell stop being the problem.
