I picked up a new 20" mossberg 835 a few months ago and the other weekend when i shot some 3.5" shells out of it most would not extract. A few cycled no problem, some had to have the pump cycled hard a couple times to come out of the chamber and a majority I had to take a cleaning rod and push the shell out. When pushing it out it came out easily. The rim on them looks a bit bowed or streached out so the extractor is slipping rite off the rim. The brass towards the plastic measures .807 and rite above the rim it measures .842. I have shot many 2.75" loads in it and have not had this problem they all extract fine. The shells I was shooting out of it were Winchester Supreme 3.5" max dram 2.25oz #6 shot turkey loads.

So far they are the only 3.5" load i have shot though it, I plan on testing a few more this weekend when patterning it for turkey. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem with mossberg 835's recently and is this thing even safe?

Another thing i noticed is that mossberg on their camo shotguns makes the slide a bit looser as to not wear off the finish. Any ideas on how to get that a bit tighter? I tried looking for self adhesive teflon tape to put on but it appears to be impossiable to find.

Have you cleaned the shit out of the chamber yet? if you shot a bunch of 2.75's the foul in the chamber WILL cause chambering/extraction problems when you move up to 3in or 3.5's.
