Well thinking I'm god's gift to the world of rifles, I took the stock off my rifle. No problem there. I put it back together, no problems there. Then I walked my new Garand across the street feeling like Clint Eastwood in Grand Torino to show my neighbor (ex Jar head, Korean war era), he attempted to pull the trigger guard down to look at the trigger assy. and it won't budge. What might I have done wrong re assembling the rifle? This isn't  cue for any jar head remarks about a sailor and his rifle, you needed us we got you there. LOL Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Clark

Sometimes they lock up pretty tight.  You might just have to pull the trigger guard a little harder to get the guard off of the notch in the housing.

Edit:
I just looked at my Winchester and I can't see anything that should be in the way.  Maybe try cycling the op rod to see if that frees anything up?

Try pulling the trigger guard to the rear and then down.

I keep a length of 550 cord in the stock to remove the trigger guard,
