That three prong hider looks terrific on that gun, that muzzle needed something, now I have to get a Storm so I can copy you. What did it take to lighten your trigger? |
It's a 1x red dot, basically but you can dial in one of 4 reticles. dots, crosshairs and a halo style sight like the Eotech has. Best part is the storm is setup with flip down sights so you can cowitness the irons with the red dot or just put them down and rely on the red dot. The sight's pretty rugged, and hasn't shifted one bit since I put it on. It cost $69 from Midway USA with my C&R discount, and I think Natchez has it for $74.99 or something like that. I did put some Butler Creek flip caps on it, the rubber ones that came with the unit were nice but non-see thru. Don't see why it wouldn't work on a FAL...seems to handle recoil just fine.
I took the trigger group down, polished all the metal bearing surfaces with jeweler's rouge, and filed the sear notch VERY slightly with a resin file (like plastic modeler's use). Since the engagements for the sear/trigger are polymer, you can't use a steel file very well, at least I couldn't so I used the plastic file on them. It took the trigger down from around 9lbs to 4 or so, and it's much smoother. |
My understanding is that the Storm is not listed by the ATF as a no-no gun (922), and is considered a "sporting arm", so adding an FH is legal. |
Dude, I have to say that I REALLy don't like the storm. But, your little additions are starting to change my mind. Looks pretty good! |
|
Nice! I've been debating getting a Storm and passed up two chances already. I won't pass it up the next time, especially after seeing yours. I might have to copy that flash hider though. I know KKF wasn't set up yet to thread the Storm barrel yet, can you pass on the info to JohnnyMcEldoo's? |
Drop him an IM. I know he made a tool to remove the barrel...so he's setup to do Storm barrels now. He's not a shop, just does them on the side but he does good work and he's faster than most smiths I've used. Plus, he's a snappy dancer too. |
When I first saw the Storm in an ad, I went "ewwww". Total turnoff. But, after handling one, I had to have it. It just points and shoots really well. As I've owned it, it's become beautiful in its own way. Form/Function and all that jazz. I love the looks of alot of guns that, for whatever reason, I don't enjoy shooting. I guess you gotta buy what suits ya. |
Hmmmmm When I posted a pic of my altered Storm last year I got about 20 e-mails saying that it violates 922 since it is an imported weapon . Do you know for sure ? |
It was always my understanding that the 922 regs pertained to only those weapons listed specifically in the 1989 ban, and this is a sporting arm entirely different than, say an AK variant which is specifically verboten. If I'm wrong, I guess I'm bound for the pokey. |

If that happens, you'll be the first private gunowner ever, I think. |
Cool, at least I'll have done something. Always like to be a trendsetter. |
| Any stock options other than the aforementioned "butthole" stock? Please!?!hinking.gifhinking.gif |
It's never going to happen, for alot of reasons. First off, the gun is 100% imported so it falls under the 89 import ban restricting pistol grips and evil features. Second, even if there were changable stocks, the lower IS the gun so you'd be buying a new Storm to get a different stock, and in that case not only it but 9 more parts would have to be US made and no one is making any US parts for it. Modifying the stock is an option, but it's difficult to make a polymer stock into anything but cut up plastic. Lastly, Beretta spent a good deal of money on the design firm that came up with the Cx4's look, I doubt they're in a hurry to change it radically by shifting production to the US and scrapping their design. |
Whats wrong with that stock? Its extremely comfortable, adjustable for length, and just generaly well designed. Nothing wrong with a good thumbhole stock, and I like the way it looks, if i didnt, I wouldnt get one. |
A lot of companies don't recommend +P....doesn't mean the guns aren't built for it. It's a liability issue, not a safety one. Look at the barrel/bolt on a Storm sometime. Very strong, massive bolt. That thing's not going anywhere, I'd feel better with +P in a Storm than a handgun. |
I don't know where you got that, but Beretta does not recommend against +P or +P+ ammo in the Storm. The owner's manual simply notes that some "minor components" may wear faster with the extended use of +P or +P+ ammo - which is true for any firearm. GO TO PAGE 66 |

I saw one somewhere that had a collapsible stock sorta like an m4. I guess after I got done throwing up, throwing up again, and taking a break from my computer for an hour I could finally stomach coming back to close the page. It looks the best its ever going to how it is. If you dont like the stock its got, dont buy one cus your only gonna make it ugly as hell trying to change it. By the way, hell of a nice looking weapon. Mines on the way as of tomorrow. Woohoo.
